5 External Tank- Drag Reduction Methods and Flow Analysis
Shaik Mohammed Anis, G. Parthasarathy
Abstract – This article presents a study of drag reduction methods for external tanks (fuel tanks) usually mounted on the tip of aircraft wing or beneath it. For light to medium range jet aircrafts and especially fighter aircrafts, the range can be increased by having external tanks which not only helps carry more fuel but can also be designed to be expendable. Learjet 35A aircraft which has an external tank mounted on the wing tip is considered to perform calculations. This article intends to show that the use of fins on external tanks can considerably reduce the drag. Three CAD models are created ; Learjet 35A wing with a tip tank; tip tank with a trapezoidal fin; tip tank with delta fin. A comparative flow analysis is then carried out for these three scenarios and the difference in lift and drag coefficients are studied. All the models are created using Unigraphics(NX) CAD software and flow analysis was carried out using ANSYS Fluent software. It can be concluded from the analysis that the addition of fins to any external fuel tanks improved the performance and showed promising results and there is a room for further optimization in design, in-depth analysis and live testing.

11 Buck Converter Based She-PWM Technique Five Level Inverter Control for Statcom Applications
Siva Krishna G
Abstract – This paper presents a multilevel Selective Harmonic Elimination-PWM Technology(SHE-PWM) for STATCOM (Static Synchronous Compensator) system employing Five level H-bridge inverter configuration. In this method variable dc voltage is used and eliminate the lower order harmonics, with out affecting the structure of inverter circuit. By employing the multilevel selective harmonic elimination method, the constant switching angles are obtained and it reduces the number of steps for offline calculation. The proposed method optimizes the DCDC converter topology for high efficiency with high voltage capacity. To explain the proposed method a dc-dc buck converter operating at only 2KHZ is used to provide the variable dc-voltage levels for each cell of the Five level H-bridge Inverter according to the modulation index mi and also abc to dq transformation is used to compute the mathematical analysis easily. Current and voltage closed loop controllers are used to meet reactive power demand under varying load condition.

12 Simulation of Harmonic Suppression and Reactive Power Compensation in Power System
Menaka.S, Mahendiran.R
Abstract – Power quality is an important measure of an electrical power system. The term power quality means to maintain purely sinusoidal current waveform in phase with a purely sinusoidal voltage waveform. The power generated at the generating station is purely sinusoidal in nature. The deteriorating quality of electric power system is mainly because of current and voltage harmonics due to wide spread application of static power electronics converters, zero and negative sequence components originated by the use of single phase and unbalanced loads, reactive power, voltage interruption etc. The main objective of the dissertion is to design and implement high performance shunt active power filter systems .This dissertion proposes shunt active power filter based on d-q-o power theory for reactive power compensation and harmonic suppression. The simulation results are provided to verify the effectiveness of the proposed active power filter systems which increases the power factor, reduce the current harmonics and enhance the robustness of the transient response.

13 Fast and Effective Network Intrusion Detection Technique Using Hybrid Revised Algorithms
D. Shona, A.Shobana
Abstract – Intrusion is an abnormal malicious behavior in the network/ host. The intrusion detection using data mining techniques are very prevalent mechanism nowadays. This thesis work implements unique and hybrid architecture for Intrusion detection using new revised algorithm combinations. The new hybrid architecture for intrusion detection is named as H-RAID. The hybrid algorithms are selected from various analysis and research. The H-RAID includes (i). Sequential pattern analysis algorithms and (ii) Multi Class semi supervised SVM (support vector machine), which is a modified SVM with semi supervised nature. The proposed work reduces the training data collection risk. The system also facilitates different type of behavior detection strategies; hence it will find the types of attacks under IDS. Unlike prior intrusion detection approaches, this does not need the entire training dataset. This hybrid framework improved the existing algorithms, so it is significantly will produce higher results than the other algorithm in training and the detection speed, and have a high enhance of the detection rates of attacking sample.

15 Efficient Path Selection for Fast Data Collection in WSN Using Multiple Mobile Sink
M.Narmatha, Arunkumar.G
Abstract – Wireless sensor networks are limited in energy, utilizing the sink mobility has been found a better choice to tackle the limited energy conserved environment; this also may help to balance the node energy. Data dissemination to the mobile sink is a tedious and challenging task, and this creates a scheduling problem too for the resource constrained sensor nodes. This problem has arises due to the dynamic network topology caused by the mobility model. To improve the data collection in energy constrained networks, the system proposes multiple mobile sink ability. This deploys more than one mobile sink in the network environment for optimal and different delay constrained nodes. There is a need to extend WRP to the multiple mobile sinks/rovers case in order to improve the scalability. While extending number of mobile sinks, it may involve with many sub problems such as interference and coordination between Mobile sinks. In order to overcome the several existing problems, a novel scheme proposed named as MMS a dynamic Multiple Mobile Sink Scheduling Dynamic for fast data collection is proposed. Unlike the existing approaches, this improves data delivery performance by employing multiple mobile sinks and by deploying fine scheduling at strategically important points in the sensor field, the proposed Optimized Mobile Sink Protocol (OMS) does not allow packet drop at such situation. It aims to optimize the trade-off between nodes energy consumption and data delivery.

16 Measurement and Characterization of Vegetation effects on Wireless Communication System at VHF Band
Aremu O.A, Oyinkanola L.O.A, Makinde O.S, Adeleke J.T
Abstract – Vegetation is an indispensable feature of most outdoor wireless channel environments. The interaction between Radio waves in vegetation has been researched for several decades. This work presents a measurement on Radio waves path loss through tropical vegetation in Nigeria. The frequencies selected were 100MHz and 300MHz. the height of transmitter and receiver were 1.22 and 2.21m above the ground respectively. The measured signal is represented in the form of path loss and is studied as a function of vegetation depth (distance between transmitter and receiver) and frequency. The experimental data analyzed based on the best fit curve shows that, generally, the signal strength in vegetation decreases with increase in vegetation depth. The lower frequency suffered less path loss of meanvalue (89.05dBm) while the higher frequency suffered much path loss of mean value (104.52dBm). Two empirical path loss prediction models (Ray tracing and Weisberger model) have been used to evaluate the measurement data. Weisberger model gave a better fit to the experimental data with mean square error 13.8 and 2.4dBm for both 100 and 300MHz respectively. The result is in fairly good agreement with the acceptable international range and a new model is proposed.

Abstract – Parallel to the good sized improvement in applications of net-primarily based techniques, there may be growing desires for methods and device to guarantee their first-rate. Checking out these packages, because of their inherent complexities and sure traits, is hard, time-ingesting and difficult. The main challenges for internet based totally utility sorting out lies inside the approach to be looking for a suitable system for identity of one-of-a-kind static and dynamic module contained interior web software. In our paper we gift a smooth computerized attempting out manner for those applications. This proposed model identifies top notch static and dynamic components or modules of any specific internet software. Then all the ones logical and beneficial modules are examined in my opinion through way of control course float based trying out.
